About Us

The Persian Cultural Center’s Persian Language School’s mission is to offer quality Persian language and cultural education to everyone interested in the metro Atlanta area. We welcome children and adults regardless of their religion, gender, nationality, or ethnic background. Our goal is to preserve and cherish Persian language and culture while keeping it relevant and inclusive.

We are a diverse community that values the Iranian Heritage. Our Persian language classes offer an engaging learning experience, while our enrichment classes provide exposure to Iranian arts and culture. Holidays such as Nowruz and Yalda are celebrated annually.

School Day Schedule

Youth and Adult Classes

· Sundays, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
· A 15-minute snack time from 11:30 am to 11:45 am
· A healthy snack will be provided and is included in the tuition Children’s Enrichment classes
· Sundays, 12:30 to 2:30 pm
· Feel free to pack a lunch for your child if they are staying for an Enrichment class

Offerings for Adults

Our innovative curriculum offers a rich learning experience that lasts a lifetime. Atlanta Persian School teachers are extremely determined and qualified in teaching the Persian language, culture, and traditions. They have been trained to use multiple teaching approaches to create a pleasant learning environment that caters to each student’s interests, abilities, and needs. Group activities, educational games, creative arts, and storytelling are among key elements of our teaching approach.

Persian Language Classes for Youth

Ages 3 to 4 – Introduction to Persian 1

Classes are designed to familiarize learners with the spoken Persian language, vocabulary, and letters through a rich curriculum that includes children songs, stories, art projects, group games and hand-on activities.

Students are introduced to conversational Persian, words, and phrases through group activities, role-playing, and class games. Concepts are presented through a number of themes during the academic year, such as seasons, animals, nature, food, body, and family. A wide variety of hands-on activities and art projects make the learning fun and effective. Persian children songs and stories are used as the means to reinforce new concepts and vocabulary. Students also become familiar with Iranian holidays traditions such as Yalda and Nowruz.

Ages 5 to 7 – Introduction to Persian 2

These classes prepares the learners for the next level, Beginner 1, through a full immersion curriculum that includes vocabulary building, listening, speaking, elementary writing practices as well as art projects, songs, role playing, group games and hands-on activities.

Students become familiar with the Persian alphabet through listening, singing, and word games. They practice the basics of Persian handwriting and numbers. Conversational Persian, words, and phrases are practiced through games and group activities. Concepts are presented through a number of themes during the academic year, such as seasons, animals, nature, weather, food, body, and family. A wide variety of hands-on activities and art projects make the learning fun and effective. Persian children songs and stories are used as the means to reinforce new concepts and vocabulary. Students also become familiar with Iranian holidays traditions such as Yalda and Nowruz.

Age 8 and up (Levels 1 to 7) – Immersion in Persian

Our Persian Immersion classes offer an engaging curriculum with a well-balanced emphasis on the four main language acquisition skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Every learning opportunity is enhanced with interactive games, hands-on activities, and multi-media learning tools. Minimum requirements for admission are 1) 8 years old as of the first day of class, and 2) enrolled in another academic institution at minimum first grade level.

We offer the following seven levels in the Immersion program: Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Advanced 3

The innovative curriculum of our Persian Immersion classes cover the full spectrum of language acquisition skills, from reading and writing to listening and speaking. Students are introduced to the Persian alphabet and learn how to read and write while immersed in Persian conversations relevant to their age and topics of interests. Students’ comprehension and language skills improve as they progress through seven levels, Beginner 1 to Advanced 3. A wide selection of educational games and group activities make the learning fun and effective in each and every class. Projects, drills, and multi-media presentations are among tools our teachers use to reinforce new concepts and vocabulary. Students also become familiar with Iranian holiday traditions and start to appreciate the beauty of Persian literature and poetry more deeply.

Persian Alphabet Classes for Children

Mr. Tofighian has developed a method to meet the needs of students in reading and writing Persian. The curriculum introduces the letters and guides the student through the formation of words and statements. Classes are offered during certain months of the year. Enrichment Classes for Youth

Enrichment classes are the means for exposing our learners to Iranian art and culture. Classes are offered on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. Please note that minimum age requirements apply for some enrichment classes. Current offerings are as follows:

• Painting and Drawing

• Filmmaking

• Persian and Non-Persian Musical Instruments

• Music and Choir

• Persian Dance

• Persian Calligraphy

• Youth Orchestra (students with beginner and intermediate knowledge of a musical instruments are encouraged to join and prepare for performances at Kanoon events)

For adult learners (age 14 and up) who comprehend spoken Persian language and are interested in learning to read and write Persian

Persian Language Classes for Non-native Adults

From beginner to advanced, we offer Persian language courses that prepare adult learners for real-life interactions. We use conversation-based approach for teaching conversation, reading and writing (minimum age 14 years). Our beginner class is geared toward students with no prior study of the language, providing them with conversation-based instructions and activities. Students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills continue to develop as they move up to the intermediate and advanced levels. The curriculum covers topics relevant to daily life, Iranian customs, and culture.

Persian Alphabet Classes for Adults

During the hours of 10:30 am – 2:30 pm, parents and the community are welcome to take part in our adult enrichment classes, most free and some for a nominal fee. Current offerings are as follows:
